Perdana Camping Report SK Taman Selasih Kulim Kedah.

On the 14th. of September 2006, an annual camping was held during the weekend holidays. It was held in the school field. The camping started at 4.30 pm.

The camping was held for three days and two nights. The objectives for this camping are to expose the new members to the camping environment and activities, to foster them to have a strong spirit in whatever they do and to have a strong heart and soul so that they can face the challenges in their life in future.

The participants consist of one hundred and twenty one members from four uniform units. They are from the “PBSM”, “TKRS”, “Pengakap” and “The Puteri Islam”.

On the first day of the camping, the members assembled at the school hall for registration. After the registration, the members were taught the techniques of fixing and pitching the tents. After that, the members had their food in the school canteen. The one hundred and twenty one members were divided into eight groups.

On the next day, the members were given an activity to do, which is called “The Explorace”. This activity is to test the members abilities on how they could solve the tasks given as a teamwork.

The other activity was like a “commando type” of an activity where the members had to crawl into the drain, lie down onto the muddy ground and sweep themselves by crawling for a distance. Lastly, they were told to collect some earthworms and put them into a container. The members enjoyed themselves in these activities.

After that, the members went for Friday prayers. The boys went there by bicycles. After the prayers they were given another activity called “The Base System”.

At night, the school authority held a treat on behalf of the “Malam Anugerah Kokurikulum 2006″. It is a “Award Giving Day” for the good achievers in co-curricular activities. A stage show with songs and a Malay dance called “Zapin” were performed by the students. All the members, including the Education Officer from the Kulim Education Office, invited parents, the teachers in charge and the students enjoyed their dinner together. The members were told to go to sleep at 10.30 pm.

On the last day of the camping, the members were told to do some morning exercises with the instructions given by Pn. Nor Azian Bt. Mohamed Jamal. After that, the members were told to pitch down the tents and pack up their belongings under the guidance of Mr. Ariffin B. Hassan and Mr. Waridi B. Hj. Ali.

All the members assembled in the school hall for the farewell gathering. The members were given the permission to go back home at 12.30 pm. The camping was successful and has achieved its objectives.
